"Great gifts mean great responsibilities; greater gifts, greater responsibilities!"

Luke 18:48b MSG

Why is God so generous towards us?

&

Why is it so difficult for us to be generous to others?

God’s generosity is a never-ending stream of love, provision, and blessing. While He pours out all three over the entire world, He is extremely generous towards people who love His son Jesus, and proclaim His name.

Just as He's overly generous towards us, He desires for us to follow His lead towards others, especially toward the household of faith. Gods principle of “you reap what you sow" is true in all things. How we speak about others, what we think about others, all influences how we act towards them.

“Remember: A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop.” 2 Corinthians 9:6 MSG

What are our biggest fears when we consider giving?

...think about it...

What stops us from being outrageously generous?

  1.  The fear of not having enough for ourselves? That’s a big one for us.
  2.  The idea that the recipient of our giving will not be as careful with our money as we are and that they won’t invest it the way we think they should?
  3.  The perspective that we’re not really well-off, and those who are, should give. Not us. Let them take care of it. We’re too busy paying bills.
  4.  The secret belief they don’t deserve it? That they haven’t worked nearly as hard as we have, nor are they as industrious as we are, and therefore do not deserve our gift?
  5.  The thought that we want more for ourselves? (We didn’t read the memo about God’s generosity over us not being for us to increase our lifestyle multiple times.)
  6.  We desire those who follow us to enjoy the same standard of living they have become accustomed to while growing up.
  7.  We embrace the myth, (really a lie), that we deserve this wealth. We’ve worked hard, we’ve earned it, it’s ours.
  8.  That we have become so used to the standard of living, complacent really, that it is our new normal. And we won’t go back!

What stops you?

Pick a gift and DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT for 2023!

Giving is like prayer. Most of the time you do not see the real result, the real outcome. You might read the reports and see some pictures, but it doesn't begin to communicate the level of impact of what's really happening behind the scenes.

*It take us a little while to update the amounts. Please check after a couple of days and refresh your page to see the changes. Thank you.

So, what’s in it for God?

What’s his motivation behind being so generous towards us? What really impacts us: a life-changing experience; in fact, it's when we visit people who have far less than us and they demonstrate God’s generosity TOWARDS US. Such is the case when I visit pastors in India. Their joyous generosity towards us, in humility, overwhelms me.

“You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.”

2 Cor. 9:11 ESV

“He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God.”

2 Cor. 9:11 MSG

We are blessed to be a blessing to others. It’s the ancient yet still true today principle God spoke over Abraham. (Genesis 12:1-3) God wants His people to be people of praise and thanksgiving to Him, for his generosity, people who are always finding reasons to praise rather than to complain and ask.

“For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.”

Every gift, an answer to a prayer: Thank you!

[Continued from above]

What does God call us to be? Or in other words, what are we to really want? What’s our destination? “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the harvest of your righteousness.” 2 Cor. 9:10 ESV Wealth is not the destination and never has been. Becoming like Jesus in his righteousness, is the destination! “And he said to them, 'Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.'” Luke 12:15 ESV

Recently our pastor Mark Burch shared this with us … "Those of us who make in excess of $50,000 annually, are in the top 1% of the worlds annual income producers." That is a fearsome thought. Why so? Because we know with absolute certainty, that

God who has given us much, will expect much of us.

Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.” Luke 12:48b ESV.
