Our Story

“A Passion to serve TCKs.”

God called the Canadian MK Network into existence. The vision was immense and far bigger than the founders ever dreamed of.

In 2011, God called a few men and women out of their leadership roles and said… “Come and sit with Me for a while.” Leaders responded and over the ensuing 6 months God clarified what He intended to do.

The vision God provided was to launch a ministry where all Canadian evangelical mission organizations would collaborate, caring for and supporting Canadian MKs and Cross-Cultural Workers especially in their time of transition.

The vision was that all mission workers would work together in unity and harmony; sharing the workload in their gifting; engaging each other in unity in the battle; agreeing to fight only the common enemy and not each other; staying in the battle (whether on the field or here at home) for the time God has called them to be, rather than exiting due to lack of relational health. That each of them would finish well!

Clearly there was a need for Resourcing Mission Leadership to develop their own philosophies of Member Care and assist them with its implementation.

God chose to birth this MK ministry in the womb of Outreach Canada. He knew what He was doing! OC has worked with churches and mission org.s of various denominations for 30+ years.

In 2011, at Trinity Western University, in the Evangelical Free Church of Canada Mission’s headquarters, a small group (Rich & Lynn Peachey, Lisa Beiderwieden, Dave Stinson, Kurt Lundberg, and Paul Dyck) prayed, planned, and dreamed together.

Summer 2012 two priorities were set: 1) Launch an annual MK transition retreat, and 2) Invite Canadian Mission orgs to collaborate, develop and work together long term, for the good of MKs.

Over the next 12 months God facilitated a group, led by Abby Lodge with Pioneers Canada, to launch the first Canadian MK Transition retreat, “ReBoot” at Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener, thanks to the welcome of President Mark Boughan.

At the same time, the leaders began to reach out to mission organizations’ member care personnel, sharing God’s vision, and inviting them into relationship and collaboration.

Many responded quickly and supported the first ReBoot by sending their MKs who were repatriating that summer:

The Alliance (Christian & Missionary Alliance), The Canadian Baptists, HCJB Global, Teach Beyond Canada, and The Fellowship International all participated in sending some of their MKs repatriating to Canada, to ReBoot.

Within the first 3 years, 25 mission org.s had committed to working together. In 2024 we have 36 member organizations. Praise the Lord!

We continue to move forward seeking God’s will in how we may work together to help cross-cultural workers and MKs of every age thrive in a rapidly changing world.
