"SYIS workshops are designed to enhance the knowledge, attitudes & skills of Christian workers in how we relate to family, co-workers, friends and those from other cultures."

WHAT:
A 5-day, highly interactive workshop with a mix of people from different backgrounds, organizations and teams. The time together involves working, sharing and practicing skills in pairs, small groups and as a whole group.

Skills that will get sharpened:

  • Loving Listening
    Become aware of the skills needed to minister more effectively to others through listening well.
  • Advice and Problem Solving
    Learn about the role of advice and practice steps involved in helping others solve problems.
  • Confronting
    Study biblical guidelines and consider useful skills for confronting others and responding effectively when confronted in anger.
  • Conflict Management
    Explore biblical ground rules for effective conflict resolution and examine a step-by-step strategy for managing conflicts and helping others manage conflict.
  • Community
    Learn what destroys community and what attitudes and skills can help to build community.
  • Stress
    Consider the impact that stress has on yourself and others and develop a strategy to manage stress well.
  • Suffering Loss
    Study the process involved in loss and grief and identify ways to help others who are grieving or have suffered loss.

WHY:
One of the significant challenges we face is working with others, often from different cultures and with different personalities. SYIS workshops are designed to enhance knowledge, attitudes and skills of Christian workers in how we relate to others.

WHO IS IT FOR:
​The S.Y.I.S. workshop is a great fit for anyone who is mobilizing into a short or long-term mission assignment, mission organization personnel, church mission committee personnel, and/or people who desire to care for Missionaries & MKs in transition.

WHEN:
April 8-13, 2025.

WHERE:
In person, at the Guelph Bible Conference Center in Guelph, Ontario.

COST:
$1500 for onsite boarding, $1200 for commuter, $100 additional for having your own room. $100 off Early Bird before December 31st 2024.
